Juanita C. Shedd
So Burlington/Fairfax – Juanita C. Shedd, 84, a longtime area resident passed away Monday, September 20, 2010, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care, with her family at her side following a brief illness. Born in Georgia, Vermont on November 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William and Emeline (Bessette) Cross.
On February 6, 1947, Juanita married John C. Shedd, who preceded her in death on August 18, 2009.
In 1943, Juanita Christened the S.S. Thomas Bradley in Portland, Maine. She was a 1945 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax and then attended the University of Vermont. Juanita loved to cook for her family and friends, enjoyed writing painting, gardening and upon their retirement, she and John loved to travel. She was a 4H leader in Fairfax and was a volunteer at the Northwestern Medical Center and for the Franklin County Home Health Agency, Hospice Program.
Survivors include her children, Rod Shedd and his partner, Deb Lesage, of South Burlington, Vicki Popple and her husband, Herb, of Valrico, Florida, Craig Shedd of Mansfield, Pennsylvania, Brent Shedd of Essex Junction, Kimberly Charboneau and her husband, David, of Swanton, Jeff Shedd of Shelburne, Brad Shedd and his wife, Renee of Essex Junction, Heather Hoben and her husband, Mark, of St. Albans and Jay Shedd and his wife, Kathy, of Fairfax. Juanita is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, and husband, John, she was preceded in death by daughter, Suzanne Shedd Rabidoux in 1994 and son David Shedd in 2005.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010, at 1:00 P.M. in the United Church of Fairfax. The Reverend Elizabeth Griffin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Shedd family lot in the Binghamville Cemetery. Juanita’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
