Title: Guy Near Wrong Way Bridge Didn't Know It Was A Flood Area
Post by: Henry on October 03, 2010, 07:09:45 AM
Well, I guess it is just assumed that everybody knows that near the Wrong-Way Bridge in Cambridge is a flood area.  According to this story on Fox 44 News, this came as a complete surprise to someone who just moved there several months ago:

When Duane Farnsworth moved into to his new house in Cambridge, Vermont about a month ago, he didn't know he was getting waterfront property.

But the five inches of rain dumped on the mountains near his house quickly turned into considerably more in his front yard.

"Well, we're getting flooded out. Too much water," said Farnsworth.  He says when he moved in nobody told him he could expect two feet of water in his basement.

Until the river decides to let him out of his driveway, he says he'll just go with the flow.

"Just wait for the water to go down and go on with our normal activities."

I am surprised he did not know it was a flood zone.  As when I looked at houses up that way a decade ago, the first thing that was said by the bank I was looking into for financing was "You know you are in a Flood Zone there".

Maybe he is a renter?
