I decided last night instead of the Prime Rib from Steeples, I would go up to The Fletcher School and get their Lasagna Dinner - It was for a good cause and I got a real kick out of the young people working at the dinner. After I bought my dinner ticket, a young man at the other end of the table asked me if I would like to by some 50/50 tickets, so I did. He separated his and put them in the jar and gave me mine. I asked him when they were going to do the drawing and he checked it out and told me at 7 p.m.
I told him I wouldn't be there then, so the adult supervisor hustled around and got a pen for me to write my name and phone number on the back of the tickets in the jar. I kind of held things up a bit and apologized, especially since I never win anything, but the adult supervisor thanked me for bringing that up and so they checked with everyone after that to see if they would be there at 7 p.m and if not, asked them to write their names on the back of the tickets they put in the jar.
I had some very good meat lasagna with tossed salad and a roll with iced tea and a nice strawberry shortcake for dessert. It is always enjoyable to see our young people work at these events. It is a great experience for them.
As I got ready to leave my house around 4:45 p.m. we had some real good gusts of wind that were blowing the leaves all over the place, plus some rain along with it. The wind was blowing so hard, I did not even attempt to use my big umbrella. It made a nice quick evening out for supper, plus I got an opportunity to talk with some people when I was having my supper.
