The woman who first sang 'Moonlight in Vermont' has died.
Margaret Whiting passed away Tuesday in New Jersey at the age of 86. Whiting recorded the hit song in the midst of World War II in 1943, when she was just 19 years old.
She didn't actually ever visit the state until 1985, when she was honored by the state Legislature.
The song was later sung by stars like Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson and even Phish.
