Although there has still been no identification of the person involved in the fatality, the St. Albans Messenger carried a couple of photos of the tragic accident with the following information which gives a little better information as to just where it occurred:

Fatality in 1-89 wreck

GEORGIA - Vermont State Police are investigating the fiery crash of a pickup truck that took the life of its operator early Sunday morning on 1-89.

The vehicle, a 2004 Ford F-150, was apparently traveling south shortly after 2 a.m. when the operator lost control. The truck skidded off the west side of the roadway and collided with a tree before bursting into flames.

Those at the scene after the incident said the truck had gone airborne off the west side of the interstate and struck the tree high off the ground, snapping it and dislodging the roots. The accident took place about a mile from the southbound rest area.

The operator, who has not been identified by police, was killed In the crash.  It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors to the crash, but state police said it appeared that excessive speed was involved.

Georgia first responders and fire personnel also were at the scene.
