Title: Fairfax Man Joins Messenger Newsroom

ST. ALBANS — Rick Burnham, of Fairfax, has joined the staff of the St. Albans Messenger as a staff writer.

Burnham has 22 years combined experience in journalism, public relations, and marketing.

Prior to his joining the Messenger staff in August, he was director of public relations for enlisted assignments with the U.S. Air Force Personnel Center at the Fort Randall Air Force Base in Texas.
The former chief of the Air Force News Agency at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., Burnham became familiar with Vermont while serving as a correspondent with the Burlington Free Press, where he wrote more than 50 articles.

Prior to moving to Vermont, Burnham was a frequent visitor to the state. His sister is a resident of Milton.

During his more than 20 years with the Air Force, Burnham was superintendent of base public relations at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington and Howard Air Force Base in Panama City, Panama.

He was editor of the Tyndall Air Force Base newspaper in Panama City, Fla. and at Lajes Field in The Azores, Portugal.

He also had stints covering high school and collegiate sports at The Goldsboro New Argus, of Goldsboro, N.C. and The Tacoma News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. Burnham has been covering Bellows Free Academy-Fairfax football for the Messenger.

Rick is a 1992 graduate of Saint Leo College, in Saint Leo, Fla.

As a staff writer for the Messenger, his primary assignments are St. Albans Town municipal government. He is also assigned to economic development, transportation and the local environment beats.

Burnham replaces Lee J. Kahrs who left the Messenger to move with her family to Addison County.

Back on September 30, 2006, Rick covered the Fairfax Rec Path Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and is seen below interviewing Senator Don Collins:
