Title: Suggestions wanted for movies from books for kids and teens
Post by: Fairfax Librarian on April 07, 2011, 06:02:21 PM
The library received a $1000 grant from the Winnie Belle Learned Fund this year for a collection of
DVDs for children and young adults.  We are focusing on movies based on books.
We would love to get your suggestions for titles to consider purchasing.

Please reply to this post or if you prefer, email me at fairfaxlibrarian@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Shawshank Redemption wouldbe good though it might not be the best for younger kids. How about Homers Odessy? Some greek mythology would intrigue young minds!Perhaps some JR Tolken with the lord of the rings trilogy. Ummmmm.......Jurassic Park, Anything involving thus in any major war would technically be in books (History) so on and so fourth... Best of luck! Brett Michaud

When I was in elementary school the library had the "Great Brain" Books. written by: John Dennis Fitzgerald.

I really enjoyed reading about the adventures Tom had in the books.  I read the entire series, they provided a needed escape from reality for me.

My nephew goes to Bellows Falls and he was tasked with watching the movie "One Day in September" and we could not find it anywhere up here. So I suggest to check with the High School Teachers and if they are requiring or suggesting the students to watch any movies and add those to your list (maybe a couple copies if possible).

Congratulations on the grant!
