Amanda E. (Raymo) Furkey

Fairfield – Amanda E. Furkey, 95, a lifelong resident of this area passed away early Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Brownway Residence in Enosburg following a long illness.  Born on June 27, 1915, in Fairfield, Amanda was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Lapan) Raymo.  Amanda was married to Henry Furkey on February 25, 1957, in Fairfield.  He preceded her in death on January 14, 1977.
Amanda was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church, where she was custodian and over saw the care of the altar linens. She was associated with the Soule family in their canning business and kept house for several families in the Fairfield Community.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins and special friends Albert and Jackie Tetreault.  In addition to her parents and husband, Amanda was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Bovat, Henrietta Barup and Laura Raymo and more recently her brother, Fabian Raymo on April 2, 2011.

Amanda’s family would like to thank the staff at Brownway Residence and the ICU at the Northwestern Medical Center for the care and support to her and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday May 4, 2011, from 4 to 7 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 5th at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Church Road in Fairfield.  The Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche will be celebrant.  Interment for Amanda and Fabian will take place at a later date in St. Patrick Cemetery.  Honor Amanda’s memory with a contribution to St. Patrick Catholic Church, P.O.
