Post by: Chris Santee on June 22, 2011, 02:59:59 PM
Lt. Governor Phil Scott to work at the Windjammer/Best Western on Friday
Part of his "Vermont Everyday Jobs" Initiative

DATE:  Friday, June 24
TIME:  9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
PLACE: Windjammer/Best Western, 1076 Williston Road, South Burlington.

Lt. Governor Phil Scott will join the Windjammer staff for their 9:30 daily briefing, then head off to work with the maintenance department, the housekeeping department, and the restaurant prep department, to give him a taste of the work that goes on "behind the scenes" in Vermont's hospitality industry.

About the "Vermont Everyday Jobs" Initiative
Lt. Governor Phil Scott started his "Vermont Everyday Jobs" initiative to promote Vermont businesses and highlight the hard work that Vermonters do every day in all areas of our economy. Lt. Governor Scott plans to take time as his schedule permits to work in different facilities, offices, factories and farms around the state. By finding out firsthand, and in a hands-on manner, what it takes to make Vermont businesses work, the Lt. Governor will gain a better understanding of what state government can do to help those businesses work better. The tour will also help to facilitate relationships and ongoing dialogue between Vermont business leaders and their representatives in state government.

During previous "Everyday Jobs" visits, Lt. Governor Scott has worked with a Berlin home health and hospice team, a St. Albans beekeeper, a Brattleboro violin-maker, taught second grade students at Union Memorial Elementary School in Colchester, assembled solar trackers at AllEarth Renewables, checked lift tickets at Stowe Mountain Resort, worked in the Emergency Department at Porter Hospital, installed new power lines with Green Mountain Power, and changed oil at Vermont Quicklube.
