Big Lots to seek permit for store
Plans to locate on U.S. 7-North

ST. ALBANS TOWN - Big Lots, the national closeout retailer, is preparing an application for a 32,OOO-square-foot store in St. Albans Town, local civil engineer Peter Cross of Cross Engineering confirmed Thursday.

"We are looking at a possible application for a Big Lots store here in St. Albans," said Cross.

The location being considered is on the south side of the Price Chopper supermarket located off of US.-7 North within the town's growth zone.

Big Lots has 1,398 stores in the U.S., with four stores in Vermont -- Essex Junction, Morrisville, Barre and Rutland.

Founded in 1967, the company is based in Columbus, Ohio, and has annual revenues of nearly $5 billion. It is a publicly traded company.
