Title: Uh Oh!! School Bus Discussion Tonight????

Chris Santee posted the following on his web site:

"Fairfax Selectboard meets Monday night.  BFA School Board has "buses" on the agenda along with para-professional pay raises.
School Board meets at 6:30pm in the Library, Selectboard meets at 7:00pm next door."

I couldn't believe the board did not support the pay raise for the Para eds in our school!  I was very upset to see it would have cost them about 17k & there is a "lump sum of money- 16k"- that was spoke of & still it didn't pass.  A motion was made to give the para's the raise, 1 member excused self as personal conflict of interest, & the other 2 did not support or 2nd the motion.  I again looked at the handout given & further read that there is 193k SURPLUS in our budget:  "approximately 96k will be put to capital improvement fund & 96k will use as starting revenue for FY13 budget to reduce taxes".  So, doing the math, that's approx 192k; where's the other 1k going?! Why wasn't that put with the "lump sum of 16k" & put to our para eds to give them what they earn & work hard for??!! What will be our increase in school tax?
