Together with her husband she owned Burt’s Wayside Store for several years and Kelly River Lumber Company, both in Waterville. A few years before closing the mill, Doug decided sugaring would be fun and Evelyn was his companion and helper in that venture as well. She and Doug were married fifty eight and a half years before his passing in August of 2004. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and reading. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and enjoyed sending cards for those special events to her friends and family.
