Title: Louise Decker Submits Some Photos From 1964 Ice Jam In Georgia
Post by: Henry on March 05, 2012, 08:01:58 PM
I'm still scanning slides.  Here are some pics from 1964 of the ice jam.  Is the ice still a problem over there at times?

I remember in the 70's when the bridge was no longer safe to drive on and my Nana (Kay Hoben) and I went down and got to walk on it (just a little bit) before it was no longer.

That house near the high bridge isn't there any longer is it? I remember the ice jam that took the bridge out, I was a kid and my bus route went up Georgia Mountain. It was a huge deal when that happened. I just don't recall the year. It must have been late 70s. The ice was always unreal, but much like Louise's pix, the year it took out the bridge it was a really massive JAM.
