Does anyone know the details for what looks to be the quickly approaching Rt 104 construction between 104a and 15?
Specifically, I'm curious about the following: When is it expected to start and complete? Will the work simply be repaving, or will they fix the underlying road problems? Will there be detours/closures posted? Will intersecting streets simply be joined to be new pavement or will there be more significant work further along these intersecting roads?
-
Honestly, I would just be so excited if they paved it and figured it out as they went! But seriously, are they getting ready today to start?
-
I haven't been that way this week, but read it was supposed to start yesterday and be one lane traffic.
-
mk you are so right,i can live with detours and waiting if it means smooth roads ahead and my car thanks you
-
I'll see what I can find out today and report back.
Fairfax to Cambridge (104) is a NEW project.
8.847 miles ranked 36th.
104A is a PROPOSED project
according to: http://www.aot.state.vt.us/ (http://www.aot.state.vt.us/)
If the contractor has submitted his paving schedule, VTrans is e-mailing it to me.
If the contractor hasn't submitted it yet, VTrans will e-mail when the contractor does.
Great service from Vtrans, thanks !

Paving May 1st through July 3rd.
No expected detours.
Some underlying work.
No details at this time on intersecting roads.
Pike is doing the work.
Hope that helps !
Again, thanks to VTrans.

It will be all done JUST in time for the 4th of July Parade then! So excited for the road to get fixed and like ED said, My cars Thank you!!
-
Anyone have an idea about when or if we will get a sidewalk in town?
-
I had to wait 10 minuets after dropping my kids off to school to get back on to 104
Will have to leave earlier tomorrow.
Glad it's being fixed but hate being late for work.
-
The traffic control was pretty slow this morning. I work from home so I got hit coming and going. It took me 30 minutes to bring my kids to school today instead of the normal 5 minutes.
-
VTrans and Pike have been alerted that 7:30am to 8:30am and 2:30pm to 3:30pm are our busy traffic times.
Everyone will do their best to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
Thank you for your input !
-
and the sidewalks are coming too.........
details to follow.

Wow! I got caught up in it this afternoon about 4:30coming from 104A side to Post office (so got it both ways). At least 10 minutes each direction. Going to Hunt street. Anybody know how early they are starting so we can plan accordingly to leave town in the AM?
-
Pike starts at 7:30 in the morning.
-
We were outside BBQing around 5 at our house up on Michelle Rd across from Swansons & heard a car beep for a few seconds & we said it must be because of the construction.
-
Thanks Luap. That helps a lot. Do you or anyone else know if it wil be on Saturdays too??
-
Heard on the news this morning that the construction is to continue until August. It is a hassle waiting in traffic but need to think of the end result. A nice, smooth road to drive on.
-
It was much easier this morning because they've moved a bit further north. It only took 10-15 minutes to get to the school and back today.
-
logical, what news source reported August ?
Pike says they'll be done July 3rd.
-
WPTZ - Channel 5. I have heard them state that twice in their morning broadcast. I'm hoping the July one is correct!
-
I think I know where WPTZ got their information from -- the website for VTrans (www.511vt.com) is currently saying:
Vermont 104: from VT 128 to VT 15
paving operations -- until August 31
Comment: the contractor anticipates starting this project on
April 23rd. More information to follow.

The last line is the most important. So I would tend to believe Chris' information more than the website.
