Henry,
Sending you a picture of the Cub Scout group and guests as we depart on Amtrak bound for Washington DC.
We have safely made it to NJ. It was a lot of fun to watch the kids faces glued to the windows as we passed NYC.
South of Penn Station the train travels at speeds in access of 100mph it is a smooth ride when compared to the New England Lines.

Henry,
Here is an early morning picture outside the East entrance to the Capitol. The sun was shinning in the boys faces so it was tough to get a good shot.
I appreciate all the thanks from our community, but fundraising and coordinating a trip like this can't easily be done by one person. Tom Fontaine & Todd Langlois were instrumental in the coordination and logistics. The parents of the children attending worked tirelessly fundraising. More importantly the Fairfax community believed in us and supported our efforts to provide this once in a lifetime opportunity for these scouts.
I have the highest degree of faith in these boys, and know that this opportunity will help mold them into fine adults.

Here is a picture of the west wall of the Capitol. During the summer the military bands perform here at 8:00 each night.
After our stop here we visited the Botanical Gardens for a brief stop. Next we stopped at the American Indian Museum, this is new since I lived in DC during 1991. Lots of great exhibits my kids really enjoyed it. The Native Indian foods in the cafeteria were outstanding.
The Hirshhorn Museum of Modern Art was our next stop. A wonderful place to explore the diverse forms of art.
Tomorrow we will take a tour of the White House, stay posted for updates of the adventure.

The Cub Scouts and Girl Scout had a great trip to Washington. After a 14 hour train ride we are all safe here in Fairfax. I will work on adding some more photos that are on my camera as time permits this coming week.
