(From Channel 3 News At 6 p.m.)

Montpelier, Vermont - April 12, 2007

Vermont's top game warden was honored Thursday for his excellent work record.  Curtis Smiley of Fairfax is Vermont's State Game Warden of the Year.

Smiley has been on the job for 12 years. Smiley was responsible for 300 written violations last year alone -- a feat recognized by his superiors.

"It's very impressive for me to see him handle of 300 different violations... warnings, tickets, citations, and not receive one complaint from the public about his handling of the violation. To me that's truly the indication of an outstanding officer who can do that in any law enforcement division," said Colonel Robert Rooks, of the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department.

Warden Smiley's district includes Fairfax, St. Albans, Georgia, Fletcher, Bakersfield, Fairfield, and Westford.
