Title: Tom Snyder's Mother Dies At Age 82

Barbara A. Snyder 1930 - 2013

SPRINGFIELD- Barbara A. (Tedeschi) Snyder, 82, of Chicopee, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2013 at Wingate at Springfield. Born in Springfield on October 23, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ada (Center) and George Cannon. Barbara loved children and retired from the Springfield School System as a paraprofessional. She was the past president of the Firefighter Wives Association in Springfield, was involved in the Fresh Air Organization, and was also on the Board of Trustees for Monson State Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and loved traveling to Mohegan Sun to play the slot machines, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her family and spending most of her time with them. Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, W. Thomas, in 2010. She leaves one son: Thomas Snyder and his wife Priscilla of VT; four daughters: Lynn McGibbon and her husband David of South Hadley, Lois Gebbie and her husband Ron of Springfield, Susan Garvin and her husband Rick of Chicopee, and Sandy Hess and her husband Bob of Longmeadow; 11 grandchildren: Kara, Paul, Taylor, Kristine, Daniel, Jeff, James, Ashley, Christopher, Olivia, and Julia; 4 great grandchildren: Jordan, Brenna, Trevor, and Connor; and two nieces: Maxine and Martha. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8th starting from the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee at 9am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., at 10am. Rites of Committal will be in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, both in Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 7th from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Barbara's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff for their compassionate care at Wingate of Springfield and Beacon Hospice.
