FAIRFAX - Richard "Dick" Brown was well known in Franklin County for his dedication to the education of the area's young people, serving as principal at BFA-Fairfax and Sheldon Elementary.
A scholarship fund is being organized, appropriately, in the memory and dedication of Brown, who died Nov. 18, 2012 in Florida, where he had relocated.
The group orgamzmg the fund, led by former BFA-Fairfax School Board member Ralph McNall, is hoping to raise enough money to award a scholarship at this year's high school graduation in June. The group also wants to buy a plaque with Brown's photo to display in the BFA - Fairfax lobby.
"His passion, integrity, loyalty, dedication and fairness are a few qualities making him deserving of this honor," McNall wrote in a community forum about the two-time BFA-Fairfax principal and his longtime friend.
McNall wrote that a committee is being organized to administer the scholarship fund, as well as take on other efforts in order to honor Brown.
People interested in donating to the fund can send contributions, made out to BFA Scholarship Fund, to FWSU, 4479 Highbridge Rd., Fairfax VT 05454, with a memo for the Dick Brown fund.

What a wonderful way to honor such an amazing man who touched the lives of so many that you still take and use his advice 25 years later after high school.
Mr. Brown was a man who us kids/parents all respected and as I got older found myself using some of his techniques to cope with everyday life/job.
If help is needed for this, please contact me. ~Mary Kay Raymond
