Katherine A. (Cross) Buchanan

Westford -- Katherine Amilda (Cross) Buchanan, age 76, passed away peacefully at home with her children on Saturday, April 28, 2007.  Kay was born in Georgia, VT on February 16, 1931 the daughter of the late William and Emiline (Bessette) Cross and grew up on the family farm in Cloverdale.  She graduated from Burlington High School in 1949 and worked briefly for the telephone company.

On September 4, 1954 she married the love of her life, James Buchanan of Hallsville, Missouri, who predeceased her in 1988.  Kay and Jim raised five children – Donna, Dale and Sheri of Westford and Kevin and John of Milton.  Her children remember her for her generosity and faith.

Kay was active in her children’s school and scouting activities in Burlington and later in the Ladies Guild at St. Mary’s Church in Cambridge.  Kay loved playing bingo with friends, watching Flyers hockey with her daughter Sheri and daily talks with her sister Cecilia.  After an earlier brain tumor took her sight, Kay gave up her crossword puzzles, but kept her mind active by listening to game shows.  Kay was the anchor of the St. Mary’s prayer chain and we are confident she is praying for all of us still.

Kay is survived by her children, her buddy Corkey, her brother Francis and her sisters Juanita Shedd, Theresa Price and Cecilia Cross.

Many nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was also predeceased by her brothers Armand and Herman Cross.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 2, 2007 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at A. W.
