Truck sought in school bus accident

GEORGIA — Vermont State Police identified Nicholas Smith, 15, of Fairfax on Thursday as the child injured during a hit-and-run accident that involved a Georgia Elementary School bus and a tractor-trailer on Wednesday.

Lt. John Flannigan, station commander at St. Albans, said the case is considered leaving the scene of an accident because the tractor trailer did not stop on Vermont 104A about 3:20 p.m.

Wednesday. Smith received superficial injuries when sprayed with shattered glass as the tractor-trailer clipped the side-view mirror on the bus, police said.

Heather Menard, 41, of St. Albans was northbound in the bus when it was struck as it crossed the bridge near Arrowhead Mountain Lake, police said. The trucker never stopped and is being sought, police said.
