VIOLATION: Pointing laser light at commercial aircraft

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 04/06/2013 at approximately 00:00 hours the Vermont State Police were contacted by air traffic control at the Burlington International Airport. Airport officials reported that a laser light was shined into the cockpit of a commercial aircraft inbound to Burlington International Airport. The pilot reported that the incident occurred while the aircraft was flying approximately over the town of Richmond at approximately 23:38 hours. It was also reported that the light was shined from a vehicle which was being operated on a road to the south of Interstate 89. Shining a laser light into the cockpit of an aircraft is a violation of Federal Law. If anybody has information about this incident they are urged to contact officials from the FAA or the Vermont State Police.
