Bette Gillin Loso
South Hero/Fort Myers, FL - Bette Gillin Loso, 78 went to be with the Lord, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday, November 11, 2013. She was born in St. Albans, on August 5, 1935, daughter of the late Charles and Eula (Sweet) Gillin. Bette graduated from Bellows Free Academy and worked for many years at the New England Telephone Company in Burlington. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She married Dewey Gokey in 1956 and raised her family in Essex Junction. Bette was a lucky lady to have enjoyed life to the fullest with her family and friends in Vermont and Florida. Even luckier to have had the chance so late in life to find love again when she married Wendell Loso on August 12, 2005 and welcomed him and his children into her life.
Bette was always a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and was admired by all who knew her. It is with heavy hearts to have lost such a wonderful and fun lady.
Survivors include her adoring husband, Wendell, her son Scott and wife Lisa Gokey, daughter Lisa (Gokey) and husband Greg Riddle; grandchildren, Amy & Festus Barup, Stacey & Jake Payne, Brad and Megan Riddle, Darren Gokey, Rusty and Nicole Belanus, Liana Redmond; six great grandchildren, Brianan, Tucker, Destiny, Dominik, True Bella & Nyla, her sister Brenda Plattner and her husband Alois, many cousins, nieces, nephews, her lifelong best friends Betty Carroll and Betty Kolinich; Wendell's children: Dona Loso, Karen Redmond; Marc Loso and the father of her children Dewey Gokey.
Bette was also predeceased by her sister Grace Machia on October 16, 2012 and her nephew Charles Machia on December 10, 2003.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday November 17, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a wake service with the Reverend John Feltz offering prayers will be held at 3:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated with Reverend John Feltz and Reverend Henry Furman on Monday November 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, Fairfax. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Luke Cemetery, Fairfax.
