Photo is courtesy of Ralph Mcnall and originated with Inez Barkyoumb, given to Ralph by Daisy Collins and shows Raymond McNall stopping at Steve Alderman's Store after delivering milk up to the creamery that used to be near Nan's Mobil where Sylva Thibault built his house.  The sled was a sap sled which held a 250 gallon gathering tank during sugaring.  I strongly suspect that Raymond had to stop to the store to pick up something his wife needed.  You just didn't run down to the store and pick up something when you needed it in those days.  Each trip was utilized to the fullest.

Yes, it is looking down Maple St.  Every Sat night we went there to get groceries as well as getting our meat out of the locker.  Of course I was just a kid then, but this is the store front I remember so well.  It was a family outing to get groceries.  As some would say those were the good ole days!  Occasionally my folks would by ice cream for a treat.  My mother made it all the time, but of course the store bought stuff was a treat and today it certainly would be the reverse.   Thanks for sharing the picture.  I miss seeing that store front there.
