MENDON/ WILLISTON - Barbara Evans Little, 75, of Mendon and Williston, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in the Vermont Respite House in Williston. She was born in Burlington on Feb. 14, 1938, the daughter of Harrison L. and Anne (Case) Evans. Barbara was a graduate of Brattleboro High School, Class of 1956, and a graduate of the University of Vermont, Class of 1960. On June 24, 1961, she married Edward R. Little at Dummerston Center Congregational Church. She was a lifetime educator, teaching and tutoring at Montpelier Middle School, Proctor High School, and Mill River and Otter Valley Union High Schools. She also served as a librarian at Proctor High School. Barbara was an avid genealogist and a life member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendents, having served as an officer of the Vermont chapter. She greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of her many friends and made new ones with ease. She showed others the value of humor, laughter and love, and was gracious with her time; expressing her gratitude openly. She is survived by her husband, Ed, of Williston; one daughter, Janipher Ann Kane of Fairfax, son-in-law, Mark, and their son, Luke. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rutland. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, followed by a reception for family and friends in Good Shepherd's Narthex. Burial will be at a later date in Dummerston Center Cemetery in Dummerston, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland. Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Hillside Rd., Rutland, VT 05701, in lieu of flowers.
