JEAN LOUIS "JOE" RAINVILLE
Fairfax – Jean Louis “Joe” Rainville 85, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. Joe was born on July 15, 1928, in St. Hyacinthe, P.Q. Canada, the son of the late Omer and Cecilia Bernard Rainville. On August 18, 1951 he married the love of his life, Cecile Laferriere and they were married for over 62 years.
Joe’s first love was his wife, his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was a farmer most his life and taught himself the trade of woodworking after retiring from farming. He loved his vegetable garden and the outdoors. He touched and comforted many people throughout his lifetime by giving them strength, support, and encouragement during their troubled times.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile and his children and their spouses, Claude & Christine Rainville, Mark & Sheri Rainville, Diane & Rick Marsh, Norman Rainville, Louise & Jeff Webb and Lynn Parah. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Aaron Rainville & Tara Cushing, Nicole & Lee Bates, Matt & Mira Rainville, Adam and Brenon Rainville, Michelle & Dan Fletcher, Ryan & Ashley Marsh, Katie & Tim Bessette, Allison & Paul Lague, Ashley, Melanie, and Danielle Parah and 10 great grandchildren, Natalie, Mariah, Kayleigh, Megan, Maya, Evan, Sean, Anna, Ryaleigh and Kelsey.
He is also survived by 2 brothers and their spouses, Jean Guy & Fernande Rainville and Gilles & Claudette Rainville of Fairfax; 3 sisters, Fernande Tougas; Imelda & spouse, John Tougas, of Swanton & Therese Paquette of Jericho; 5 brother & and sister-in- laws, Denise & Alan Parent of Lyndonville, Reginald & Sandra Laferriere of St. Albans & Monica Butler of Claremont, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 brothers, Harvey, Gaston, Laurent, Robert, Bernard & Paul; 3 sisters, Madeleine; Marie Paule & Noella; 5 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law & 4 nieces & nephews.
Calling hours to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Friday, March 7th from 4:00-8:00 pm at A.W. Rich Funeral Home in Fairfax. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8th at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Church in Fairfax with Reverend Henry Furman officiating with burial immediately following at St. Luke’ Catholic Cemetery.
