Title: Recount Confirms Vote

The Fairfax Board of Civil Authority convened on April 14th and recounted the ballots cast April 10th.
The result of the recount confirmed the count last Thursday.
287-286 NO.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what would happen if there had been a tie (if one more person had voted and it was in favor of the budget)?

My understanding is that in Vermont, a tie is a defeat to the article.

Interesting comment Trevor.  Chris Santee started this thread.  He is Vice- Chair of the Civil Board, so must have a rule book..  I am not aware of Trevor's comment.  What does the rule book say?

While on the selectboard we had at least one situation where there was a tie vote, when the chair recused himself due to a conflict of interest.  The outcome of the vote was, no action was taken.

A tie is a NO, or a defeat.
i.e., our Recreation Director: 306-306
or "no action taken".
