The Fairfax Board of Civil Authority convened on April 14th and recounted the ballots cast April 10th.
The result of the recount confirmed the count last Thursday.
287-286 NO.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what would happen if there had been a tie (if one more person had voted and it was in favor of the budget)?
-
My understanding is that in Vermont, a tie is a defeat to the article.

Interesting comment Trevor. Chris Santee started this thread. He is Vice- Chair of the Civil Board, so must have a rule book.. I am not aware of Trevor's comment. What does the rule book say?

While on the selectboard we had at least one situation where there was a tie vote, when the chair recused himself due to a conflict of interest. The outcome of the vote was, no action was taken.

A tie is a NO, or a defeat.
i.e., our Recreation Director: 306-306
or "no action taken".
