MORRISVILLE — Robert C. Williams Sr., 76, of Morrisville died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, in Maple Lane Nursing Home, in Barton, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 11, 1937, in St. Albans, the son of Francis and Doris (Preston) Williams. He attended Westford graded schools and B.F.A. in Fairfax. On June 8, 1974, he married Nina Dela Cole at the Congregational Church in Westford.
In his earlier years, he was employed by Vermont Furniture in Winooski. He then worked as an electrician in Connecticut. He returned to Vermont, became a Master Electrician and started Williams Electrical which he operated until he retired in 1986. Robert enjoyed auto repairing especially, Toyotas and Jaguars, NASCAR racing, fishing, and golf.
Survivors include his loving wife, of forty years, Nina; four sons, Sidney Williams of Fairfax Falls, Robert Williams Jr. of Burlington, Vincent Williams of Belleville, Ill., and Scott Williams of Morrisville; four daughters, Doris Williams and Darcy Fields, both of Burlington, Debbie Williams of St. Albans, and Doreen Pretty of Milton; two brothers, David Williams and Larry Williams, both of Georgia; two sisters, Elizabeth Martell of North Fairfax and Judith Beehner of Delta, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by his mother; father; step-mother, Iva Williams; and a brother, Roger Williams.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in the Georgia Plains Cemetery in Georgia. Northern Vermont Funeral Service, Hardwick, is in charge of arrangements.
