WESTFORD/MILTON — Rose A. Wells, 88, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in the home of her niece, Carol Howrigan, in Westford.

 Rose was born Aug. 22, 1926, in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Arthur and Maude LaValley Mayo. On July 5, 1951, she married Arthur Wells in St. Joseph’s Rectory in Hartford, Conn. She and Arthur lived in Connecticut until his retirement in 1992, when they moved to their home on the shore of Lake Champlain in Milton.

 Arthur passed away on Feb. 1, 2011. Almost a year ago, she came to live with her special niece, “The daughter that she never had,“ Carol Howrigan and her husband, Frank, in Westford.

 Rose is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers and two sisters.

 A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Georgia Plains Cemetery located on Stonebridge Road in Georgia.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Center, c/o The Georgia Plains Baptist Church, 1486 Stonebridge Road, Milton, VT 05468; or to the Chittenden County Hospice, c/o of the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester, VT 05446.
