SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:  On this date and time VSP received a report from a witness who saw a vehicle drive off the road into the Lamoille River, where it submerged beneath the water.  A search and recovery operation is currently underway, and this incident remains under investigation.  The Johnson and Cambridge Fire Departments, as well as Cambridge Rescue are on scene assisting with the operation.

SUMMARY OF CRASH:  At this time the search and recovery operation on Rt. 15 by the Wrong Way Bridge has been completed, and both lanes of travel on Rt. 15 are now open.


A green 2007 Ford Escape was removed from the Lamoille River by a heavy wrecker.  The operator and single occupant, Cheryl Miller, was found deceased inside.  Preliminary investigation reveals Miller lost control of her vehicle and drove over the river embankment.  Extremely icy road conditions are a contributing factor in this crash.  This crash remains under investigation.


The VT State Police Scuba Team, Johnson Water Rescue/Fire Department, Fairfax Fire Department, Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Rescue, and Underhill-Jericho Fire Department all assisted in the recovery process.
