John A. Learned, Sr.
Jeffersonville - John Alton Learned, Sr., 78, fell asleep in death January 28, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born in Burlington on November 19, 1936 son of the late Raymond Alton and Gladys (Lapan) Learned.
He was married for 58 years to his high school sweetheart and best friend Beverley. He left a legacy of integrity and moral values to his five children, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. John was truly a farmer at heart, and was known by many generations in the agricultural industry as the “Bolt Man”. He was a gentle man with a strong faith in his God, Jehovah. He loved sharing his faith with family, friends, and neighbors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverley (Blaisdell) Learned of Jeffersonville; three sons John “Jack” Learned, Jr. and wife Catherine of Cambridge; Marshall Learned and wife Cheryl of Jeffersonville; Jeremy Learned and wife Rani Celina of Brooklyn, NY; two daughters Cheryl Terpstra and husband Ty of Alum Creek, WV; Dianne Tinker and husband David of St. Albans; two sisters Ruth Brandt and husband Bob; Donna Stelmach and husband John both of Prescott, AZ; fourteen grandchildren Seth, Kyle, Mikayla, Zachary, Becca, Jared, Erin, Lauren, Ethan, Logan, Alicia, Sarah, Jordan, Brandon; seven great grandchildren Isaac, Isaiah, Kasaya, Bryleigh, Camdyn, Ryder and Mason; brothers-in-law C. Kent Blaisdell and wife Martha of Castleton on Hudson, NY; Bradford Blaisdell and wife Joyce of Jeffersonville; C. Mark Blaisdell and wife Judy of Jeffersonville; sister-in-law Sally Loura and husband Allen of Hyde Park; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday January 31, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St. Fairfax, VT 05454. All are invited to attend the celebration of John’s life at a memorial service on Sunday February 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1314 Upper Pleasant Valley Road, Jeffersonville.
