Herve Ferdinand “The Fox” Airoldi, of East Highgate, left us peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2007 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Herve was a long time resident of Highgate who had many friends and always greeted them with a story and a smile. He was a hardworking family man born in Richmond, Quebec, moving to the United States in his early years, where he met and married Lise LeBlanc of Hardwick, Vermont. Herve was one of fourteen children. He worked on many farms until 1967, where he fulfilled the dream of owning his own, with the purchase of the Tom Hubbard Farm in East Highgate. After many years he sold the farm and went to work for the Town of Highgate. While there he worked as the foreman of the town crew and as the road commissioner. He retired after 16 years of service and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Herve enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and making music, all of which he shared with his children and grandchildren. He and his wife and family spent many weekends at their hunting camp in the Gibou in Montgomery, VT following those years with many trips to his secret Schaefer Camp (fox den).
Herve was an unforgettable influence and he has left a piece of himself with all of those he knew. He will be greatly missed.
Herve is predeceased by his parents, Henri and Rose Airoldi, of Richmond, Quebec, three brothers, a sister, and two sons Allen Andre and James Robert.
