FAIRFAX, Vt. - Three motorcyclists were hospitalized -- one with serious injuries -- after a messy accident in Fairfax Sunday morning.
Police say the driver of a car, 66 year-old Joan Nye of Milton, crossed the center line on Route 104, hitting a northbound motorcycle's trailer. She then side-wiped a second bike, and nearly hit a third -- that swerved and crashed to get out of the way. Officials say the first victim, a 42 year-old Jericho man, had to have his leg amputated. Nye's injuries and those of the other riders' were non-life threatening. Nye was arrested and charged with careless and negligent operation with serious injuries resulting. She's due in court later next month.

I came on the scene after FFFD had left and the tow truck arrived to take the bikes.... Awful looking scene. Heart goes out to those injured. Greatful they are all alive!

Is this the same Joan Nye who is/was a teacher at Georgia Elm & Middle School?
