Elaine ( Adams ) Preston
Fairfax - Elaine ( Adams ) Preston, 84, passed away on Tuesday June 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in Essex . She was born in Georgia , Vermont on August 15, 1930 daughter of the late William and Louise (Garrett) Adams.
Elaine was devoted to her family. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for her dog, Smore. She was her children's biggest fan.
She was denied her opportunity for a high school education, as a young woman, because of the needs and demand of the family farm however at the age of 81 she returned to school and received her diploma.
Elaine worked at Union Carbide Corporation and Champlain Cable for many years. In recent years she opened her home and her heart to others while working for Home Health Agency as a home care provider.
Always full of energy with a youthful spirit, she played piano, loved animals of all sorts, camping whether at deer camp or at the lake and garage sales.
She is survived by her son Bryan Preston and Ann of Milton, daughter Sara Carter and Tim of Essex, sister-in-law Ruby Burnor, 6 grandchildren, Chris, Shannon, Lindsey, Eric, Stephanie, Joanna, 7 great grandchildren Kallie, Aiden, Shaylah, Payton, Nathan, Skyler, Olivia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her faithful canine companion Smore.
She was also predeceased by her husband Duane of 57 years, infant twin sons David and Dwight and her siblings Gladys Trayah, Florence Getty, Dorothy Trayah, Myrtle Young, Eleanor Webster, Marion Young, Kenneth Adams, George Adams, Robert Adams, Delbert Burnor and Robert “Pete” Burnor.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday June 26, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street , Fairfax. Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel. Burial will follow in the family lot in Georgia Plains Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Elaine’s memory may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadow, St. Albans, VT 05478.
