The Fairfax Community Library has an active, successful youth Chess Club that meets weekly from December through February and holds a small tournament at the end of the “season”. We have a wonderful community volunteer, Michael, who has been coaching and leading this group for 4 years!
This year, his main adult helper is not available, so we are looking for a new volunteer to assist with teaching and playing with beginner players, and generally helping out during our afternoon meetings. It’s a great group of kids every year! Michael and I take care of all the logistics, planning and materials.
If you enjoy chess, enjoy working with kids who are into learning, and have time one afternoon a week for those months, we’d love to talk to you! Typically club meetings are from 3:00-4:15. The day of the week is as yet undecided.
