Roderick Amerson “Roddy” “Rod” Juckett, 79 of Waterville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was born on May 8, 1937 in Enosburg, VT son of the late Flora Juckett. Rod joined the Air Force before he graduated high school. After he served his country Rod worked for Kiddie City a toy and baby furniture store in Milford, Connecticut and Paramus New Jersey. He then worked at W. T. Grants, a discount store in Wallingford, Ct. After a year in Wallingford he moved to Fletcher where he worked for the Red Cross Blood Mobile and part time at McDonald’s in Burlington. He then was employed as a painter of houses and ski lodges by Moriety’s in Stowe. Last but not least in 1972 he worked at Hanley’s IGA in Jeffersonville as a meat cutter and a clerk in the liquor department. He had a passion for flowers and gardens and people would often stop beside the road to view and take pictures of the gardens. He loved to do craft work, cutting patterns on his band saw and painting pictures which he frequently gave to family and friends. In his younger years he danced, roller skated, cross country skied, snow shoed and rode horse back. He belonged to the Masons and the Grange. While in Fletcher he at one time was a fence finder, justice of the peace and worked on the road crew.
Rod was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Mildred Juckett, his son Kevin Juckett and wife Susan; his daughter Laurie Kivett and husband Patrick his brother Gary Reed and wife Gloria, his grandchildren Calvin Troy, Jessica, Kailey, Kasey, Eric and Sean and great grandchildren Finlay, Kara and Kyle.
He was also predeceased by his brother Reginald Juckett and sisters Janice Fragamore and Debbie Blair.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT 05454. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Binghamville Cemetery, Fletcher.
