Title: Its Even Cool Down In The Sunny South
Post by: Henry on January 03, 2008, 09:46:33 AM
I was e-mailing back and forth with a young man from Fairfax who lives down in Florida and he tells me:

"In sunny Tampa, we reached a frigid 28 degrees -- first time below freezing since Jan '05.."

I mentioned the fact that when I went out to get the Free Press this morning, there was quite a crunching sound under my feet as I walked on the cold snow, but probably he had forgotten what that sounded like:

"I can still hear the 'crunching'  -- somthing I'll NEVER forget !!   -- and on this same note,  I try ot convince everyone in Florida,  that a knit cap is a Tuke,  of course everyone thinks I'm crazy.  But I keep trying to convince the kids to use this 'cool' word .."

Well, I have to admit that each morning when I go out to get the Free Press, I do not dress up for the occasion.  This morning, I was wearing some maroon pajamas, a gray bathrobe, my winter jacket, my tuke and a pair of ski mittens.  Picture that if you would??  Also, there is never a time when I go out to get the paper that I don't have to stand on one side of the road or the other and wait for the Fletcher Commuters to go by.  I try not to look them in the eye, as I am sure I look absolutely ridiculous and they probably have to exercise a great deal of self control, not to laugh so hard they drive off the road.

Now I am sure many of them don't know who I am, "Thank God!!" - However, they are probably thinking that poor old man must have gotten out of the house again.

Now, I actually know how silly I look, because a number of years ago, a friend of mine called me to let me know that a balloon had landed down the road across from the Town Garage, so never giving it a thought, I grabbed my camera and went down and took pictures of the balloon and the tourists as they sipped on wine and ate cheese.  I never gave a thought as to how I was dressed, which was in my pajamas and bathrobe - How impressive was I??

A few days later, my friend?? emailed the picture he took of me taking pictures and talking to the people in the balloon.  I should be embarrassed, I guess, but fact is, I am who I am and people are still very nice to me.  As far as that picture my friend took of me several years ago though - No, I'm not posting it.
