Title: Town Office Full Of Activity Yesterday Behind Closed Doors
Post by: Henry on January 10, 2008, 08:36:26 AM
The Fairfax Selectboard was busy setting up our next year's budget in the meeting room when I dropped by yesterday.  I suspect people have already inputted their Wish List to them.  Meanwhile, I understand that the School Board is getting their budget together also as Town Meeting Day is not that far away.

Below are the time requirements for submissions:

Thursday, January 24th, 2008, is the last day for receipt of petitioned articles to be added to the Town Meeting warning.  (Petition must have been signed by five percent of the legal voters of the municipality.) 17 V.S.A § 2642 (a)

Monday, January 28, 2008, (in Australian ballot towns), nominating petitions for Town offices must be filed with the clerk of the municipality no later than 5:00PM.  (sixth Monday before the election).  A nominating petition must be signed by 30 voters or one percent of the legal voters, whichever is less. 17 V.S.A. § 2681 (a) and (b).

I will be putting up the warning as soon as I can get it as well as who is running for the different offices.
