Title: Stolen keg reward money goes to St. Albans man
Post by: Henry on February 12, 2008, 12:47:57 PM

Clarence Brown of St. Albans has received a $500 reward check by the Vermont Brewers Association for his assistance in reporting the thefts of stolen beer kegs, Brewers Association officials said today.

Brown, a scrap metal dealer, contacted police after someone tried to sell four kegs for the scrap value, said VBA President Matt Nadeau.

The Brewers Association's Keg Redemption Program was established in July 2007 to prevent the theft of empty beer kegs, which are being unlawfully sold for the metal. The kegs can cost the breweries more than $100 to replace them.

Nadeau said Brown will donate his reward to the Franklin/ Grand Isle County food Shelf.
