Although I doubt most people won't be travelling unless absolutely necessary, Route 7 is closed in Middlebury due to a triple fatal crash:

I am getting unconfirmed reports that the fatalities may have involved two teenagers and a child.

Route 7 crash kills man, woman and child

Middlebury Police Department Chief Thomas Hanley said a man, woman and child are dead following a two-vehicle crash at about 11 a.m. just north of Middlebury on Route 7.

The relationship to each is not currently known and none of the victims have been identified.

U.S. Route 7 north of Middlebury was closed to traffic between Exchange Street and River Road for about two hours due to the triple fatal, according to a news release issued by the Vermont State Police.

The three people who died were all in a car. WCAX-TV out of Burlington reported the car pulled onto Route 7 and was struck by a Jeep, but other reports say one of the vehicles hydroplaned and slid across the center line. The driver of the Jeep was reportedly taken to an area hospital.

The car, a small sedan, was loaded on a flatbed truck and taken to the Middlebury Police Department station followed by a string of police cars and rescue vehicles. The green Jeep sport utility vehicle was in the police station's impound lot.

Middlebury Police Department is investigating the crash.

The road was closed for about two hours before it was reopened about 1 p.m.
