Wind advisory in effect from 8 pm this evening to 8 am edt wednesday.

The NWS in burlington has issued a wind advisory for western Vermont, which is in effect from 8 pm this evening to 8 am edt Wednesday.

Strong southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph will develop across the region this afternoon. These winds will turn northwesterly and increase with gusts to 50 mph possible tonight as a strong cold front moves across the region. The gusty winds will continue into Wednesday morning before slowly abating.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds over 30 mph are expected, or gusts from 46 to 57 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Scattered power outages are also possible. Use extra caution.
