This afternoon about 3:30 p.m. we received a call. We have Caller ID and it showed that it was The Country Pantry calling. When I picked up the phone to answer I got a big jovial "Congratulations, you are a winner."
It mentioned Direct TV and getting $18 (I believe it said) off my monthly bill for a certain number of months. I realized then that I was listening to a computer and it was not the Country Pantry calling at all, so I hung up realizing it could only be a one-way conversation. We have received a number of calls and the Caller ID always identifies the caller unless they have it blocked. Telemarketers do block their phone numbers usually, but I have never had anything like this happen before.
I would blame it on the recent takeover by Fairpoint, but the other Caller IDs have been correct. Would be interested in hearing if this was a fluke or other people are getting the same thing. We have received 3 or 4 calls from Direct TV lately, but this is the first one with a wrong caller identified.
