Mrs. Cecile j. Gregoire Nichols, age 95, died Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2008, in the Franklin County Rehab Center with her loving family at her bedside. She was born in Highgate June 1, 1912 daughter of the late Alphonse and Arsina (Lareau) Gregoire. She was a farmers wife at the Nichols Home Farm until her children were out of high school and then she worked as a practical nurse in many homes. She was employed in sales for W. T. Grant Store and later Ames Store. Cecile was a lifetime member of the Ladies of St. Anne and enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, cooking and baking for her family. Her doughnuts were an unforgettable treat.May 31, 1937 she married Walter F. Nichols. Mr. Nichols died May 24, 1993.Mrs. Nichols is survived by her five children Paul and his wife Joanne Nichols of Montgomery, Roland Nichols of Montgomery, Florence Mikan and her companion John Boocock of Sheldon, Albert and his wife Elaine Nichols of Fairfax, Irene and her husband Gary Grew of Essex Jct., 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband shewas predeceased by her sisters Blanche Begnoche, Sister Annette Gregoire, Yvette Ratte, brothers Albany Gregoire and Girard Gregoire.Her family wishes to extend their most gracious appreciation to Debbie Paradee for over five years of extensive home care, allowing Mrs. Nichols to remain at her home. They also appreciate the loving and generous care provided by the staff of Our Lady of the Meadows, while she resided in their care in Richford.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 7, at 10:00 A. M. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening. Interment will be in the Nichols Family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association, 172 Main St., Barre, Vt. 05641-4124.
