Title: This Is A Biggie - 10 Cents Off A Gallon On Gas
Post by: Henry on May 13, 2008, 06:33:14 AM
My daughter who lives down in Bellows Falls tells me that Shaws down there has been doing this for quite a while and it is very enticing to shop at Shaws for them.  Now it looks like Price Chopper is jumping on the band wagon.  Not sure when they will start doing this in Vermont, but when they do, I expect it will go over pretty big up here.  For each $50 bucks you spend its 10 cents more off, so if you spend $150 and you fill up, you would get 30 cents off on a gallon of gas.  Minors, I believe is our Sunoco Gas Station here in town.  Below is the announcement:

"The grocery store chain Price Chopper will soon be starting a gas promotion in conjunction with Sunoco.

The companies will be giving customers coupons to get 10 cents off each gallon of gas for each $50 they spend at Price Chopper.

The more consumers spend, the more they'll get back.

Right now the promotion is running at locations in Western New York, and Southern New Hampshire."

Minor's Country Store has Shell.
Nan's has Mobil.
Ross's has Gulf. I think.

Not sure who has Sunoco around here.

That sounds like a pretty good deal. That might make me switch from shopping at Hannafords to Price Chopper.

Now I am trying to think where there is a Sunoco in St Albans, so I could fill up my truck after grocery shopping ever week.

Interesting.
Yesterday, Steeple Market was $3.73 for gas. Today(Tuesday May 13), they were $3.75. Howerver, it's Tuesday, so they have their 5 cents off deal. But really, you are saving 3 cents because the price had gone up 2 cents.

Yesterday gas was $3.679 at Nan's.  I needed gas for my lawnmowers, but bugs me to pay so much for two 5 gallon cans.  Well, I would have been better to have picked it up earlier as today it is $3.739 at Nan's.

Lesson learned - If you need gas, don't put it off another day.

Let's not forget to count our blessings .... at least it is available to purchase.  Car pooling for groceries and errans are important plans between family and friends.  Combining trips with friends and family will yield a savings and it counts towards "bonding" time!

No doubt, Mummy, I remember odd and even license plates.
Odd get 5 gallons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Even on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
I don't really remember how Sundays worked,
but I do remember waiting in line,
pushing my car every time someone else finished pumping.
I remember people switching plates too.

Wed. $3.79
Premium is now $4.07
I walk past the place everyday, and I look at the price.
