Stolen car crushed and shipped to Canada
State Police say an Essex man stole and sold another man’s car to a scrap metal buyer; the car was then destroyed.
Ronald L. Weston Jr., 41, is accused of taking the car of Richard Manning without his permission and selling it to Burnett’s Scrap Metal, LLC in Hinesburg. The car was crushed and shipped to Montreal.
Weston went to Manning’s property in Cambridge and loaded the car on to a trailer to transport it, according to State Police.
The incident was reported April 25; initial attempts to locate Weston failed. He was found by a member of the Essex Police Department Tuesday and issued a citation to appear in Lamoille District Court.
