Post by: trussell on June 10, 2008, 10:53:17 AM
FYI-

Tornado watch issued for all of Vermont
June 10, 2008

The National Weather Service has issued a rare tornado watch for all of Vermont until 6 p.m. today.

Thunderstorms are developing in New York State. Conditions are ripe for many of these storms to become severe, Weather Service meteorologists said. Some storms will cause very strong winds, large hail and a possibly a few tornadoes.

The first thunderstorms should arrive in Vermont by 2 p.m. today, forecasters said. Any of those storms could produce tornadoes, large hail or destructive winds. Another vicious line of storms is expected to arrive in Vermont by 6 or 7 p.m., forecasters said.

Meteorologists caution that although those are the most likely times for storms, dangerous storms could develop anywhere in Vermont at any time for the rest of the day.

People all over Vermont should be on the alert for rapidly changing weather and seek safe shelter if weather turns threatening. Stay tuned to National Weather Service weather radio, and the Burlington Free Press Web site for updates on the impending dangerous weather.

Hopefully you have a designated safe place to go - Since Maryann is not able to go everywhere, we in the past use her handicapped walk-in shower which appears to be the safest place - We used it last year during a high wind warning.
