Title: Our Fairfax Community Park
Post by: Henry on June 15, 2008, 08:48:59 AM
In an attempt to shed a few pounds, I have been taking a stroll on the Rec Path after supper at night.  Usually, somewhere along the way, I will meet someone, but it is not crowded by any means.  It is truly very, very peaceful, except for maybe a few seagulls squawking away down in the Lamoille River.

I park just off the road above the covered bridge, mainly so I don't have a hill to climb and find that either before I get there or when I am leaving, there is a second car there.  For the time being, at least, this works out well.  I carry my cell phone with me, and it looks like I have cell phone coverage all along my walk.

Now, I don't want to jinx it, but also so far, there doesn't seem to be a lot of bugs, which is also great.

What a wonderful addition to our town this Community Park is - It appears to have something for everybody.  My interest is the rec path, where I can walk without fear of being hit by a car, while others may want to use the picnic tables, walk their dogs or utilize the fields for playing sports.

By the way, even though I don't know everybody I meet there, they are all very friendly and definitely part of this still small town atmosphere.

In regards to my weight - I've only gained another pound, so I guess there must be just a bit more to losing weight than walking.

Yeah, you are right the park doesn't seem to have many visitors and yet it has a little bit of everything.  When I am there, I am usually the only one on the path.  When visiting the park I park my car in the parking lot, so that I can get the extra 1/4 mile of exercise.  Even with that extra walking to and from, I am usually the only one on the path.  My dog loves the water and I enjoy the bench which is close by.
