Mrs. Blanche (Blanchette) Girard Gignac, age 98, died Friday evening in the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada January 30, 1910 daughter of the late Pierre and Aldea (LeFrancois) Blanchette. She married Henry Girard July 20, 1925 and they operated a dairy farm together for many years. Mr. Girard died May 5, 1973. She married Aurelien Gignac May 12, 1975, and he died six days later, May 18, 1975. Blanche was later employed as a saleslady at M. H. Fishman Store in St. Albans. She has been a communicant of Holy Angels Church for many years.
Her survivors include her 5 children Henry Girard and Suzanne of St. Albans, Theresa King of Fletcher, Corrine Lamphier of St. Johnsbury, Ernest and his wife Bernice Girard of Lyon Mountain, NY, and Roger and his wife Nancy of East Hampton, CT, 32 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her very dear friends John and Drena Voyer with their sons CJ and Nicholas. She was predeceased by her husbands Henry and Aurelien, a son Andrew Girard, grandsons Sidney Girard, Kenneth Girard, Johnathan Girard, a great-granddaughter Hayley Girard, brothers Ernest Blanchette, Armand Blanchette, sister Germaine Benoit, and son-in-law Robert King.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will follow in the Blanchette/Girard family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday evening.
