Iffy as it seemed to be in regards to holding our Fairfax Historical Society Pie & Ice Cream Social out on the lawn at the Baptist Building, we decided to go ahead. Once during the Social, I went to the car and noticed it had been sprinkling a little heavy, but nobody mentioned it. I think they figured if they ignored it, it would go away. We had a grand turnout and some great pies. We don't have a lot of members, but when Our President, Mike Cain, puts out a call for pies, members and non members alike come forth. Some made up to three pies.
I was pretty well photoed out by the time the Social rolled around and Mike had forgotten his camera, so Tom Snyder gave him a ride home to get it. We try to get photos each year and thanks to Mike Cain, this year will be no exception.
Each year we seem to have some old familiar faces missing. I didn't get a chance to walk around and meet some of the people that didn't go through the line, but JoAnne Wilkins told me she had brought her mother, Elaine Lavallee and she was in the car, so I did scoot down and say a quick "Hi" to her. I think I saw Art & Margaret Webb there also, but somebody must have come through the line for them, so I didn't get an opportunity to speak to them.
Also, each year I meet some of our youngsters from the past and this year was no exception - Asked Mike Cain to take a photo of him and his wife and have him identified in my Photo Gallery:
