I just came from the weekly Fairfax SelectBoard meeting and wanted to let you know what a fine job the Board is doing on the sidewalk project. As many in town know, there are serious safety issues with the sidewalks in the center of town, especially those which lead from Main Street to the school. The Board is working very hard and intends to apply again for a Transportation Enhancement Grant to partially fund the project. I am doing what I can to help them deal with state agencies involved and cut through red tape. It was very obvious to me the Board is focused on public safety and making the center of town as safe as it can be. I'll keep you updated as this project moves along.We hope to get the grant submitted by the end of August.
