Stopped in at the Milton Branch of TD BankNorth on Wednesday and asked them what the scoop was regarding the discontinuance of deposits after July 31, 2008 at the Fairfax ATM.
They tell me that the deposit activity is such that they can't afford to come over every day and pick them up - Other activities will remain the same.
Guess we will have to resort to the old method of mailing them in, although I have to admit that like most people, my income is direct deposited. It will only be other odd ball checks that I receive.

I have heard several responses to the reason from employees of the bank, so decided to contact TD Banknorth for an official answer and this is what they sent me:

Dear Henry Raymond,
Thank you for contacting TD Banknorth Customer eCare regarding the ATM in Fairfax.
According to our ATM department, the ATM in Fairfax no longer accepts deposits because it was not cost-effective due to the low number of deposits being made each month. A security company needed to be paid to visit the ATM every day and remove the deposits. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If we may be of further assistance, please contact Customer eCare directly by secured message from within Online Banking or by telephone at:
